Sarimanok, carved in carabao horn

Description

Wooden container for ointments with fragrant and stronger smelling herbs. The strap is made of lacy netted beadwork with glass beads and bronze bells. The upper part is made of carabo horn and represents a sarimanok, the mythical bird of the Maranao.

Total length: 38,5 cm.; width: 8,5 cm.
Upper part with sarimanok: height: 10,3 cm
Beadwork: 16,5 cm.
Lower part (strip of carabo horn with strings of bells and the container): height 10,5 cm.
Container: diameter: 4,5 cm.; height: 4,2 cm.
